Niagara Recycling becomes Momentum’s newest sponsor
Momentum Choir is proud to announce Niagara Recycling as our newest sponsor and recently received a generous donation from the Board of Directors on Thursday, March 9, 2017.
“Through our long standing partnership with the Niagara Region, Niagara Recycling is proud to support the Momentum Choir” says Niagara Recycling CEO Norman Kraft. “Niagara Recycling is a social enterprise company committed to providing financial support for individuals with developmental disabilities. We hope that this gift will allow Momentum Choir to continue to expand its mission to empower people with disabilities”
Mendelt Hoekstra, Momentum’s Executive and Artistic Director, was moved by the generous donation, “Niagara Recycling has shown significant leadership in improving they lives of individuals with disabilities by providing important life skills and personal development opportunities. Similarly, our mission is to nurture and promote the unique abilities of musicians with disabilities. This partnership represents an alignment of shared interests that we’re both excited and proud to be a part of. This donation will allow us to continue to spread our message of inclusion and help us improve the lives of musicians with disabilities for many years to come.”
Niagara Recycling is a locally owned and operated non-profit social enterprise located in Niagara Falls. They offer cost effective and efficient recycling services to the Niagara Region. They currently provided processing service to approximately 140,000 households across Niagara’s 12 municipalities, in addition to over 250 industrial and commercial locations, as well as 125 schools.
Niagara Recycling began operations in 1974 when the Niagara Training and Employment Agency began a recycling program that provided training and employment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities. Incorporation followed in 1978 and today they help operate one of the most comprehensive recycling programs in Ontario.
However, what makes the organization unique is the commitment it makes to community. As a non-profit social enterprise, Niagara Recycling invests proceeds from its recycling processing operations directly back to the community, with an emphasis on supporting other non-profits that provide opportunities and support to developmentally challenged adults.
Niagara Recycling joins a long list of Momentum’s sponsors, which include Bethesda, Colbey Custom Fabricating Co. Ltd., Douglas Hummell, the Dutch Shop, Dykstra Bros. Roofing, Henk VandenBeukel, McDonald’s Niagara Falls, McDonald’s Guelph, Mulch2You, OutFront Portable Solutions, Shannon Passero, Spring Creek Carriers Inc., Thorold Music, and Wellington Court restaurant.
